Here I am. My name won’t be very hard to figure out thinking of the name of the blog, but I’ll introduce myself anyways – I’m Evelin. You might think that the spelling is a little bit odd, but there’s an explanation to it. You see, I am a little bit odd.. And also (mainly), I’m not from the US. I’m half Norwegian/half Swedish and I just recently moved to the US.

I live with husband C and a giant cat named Oscar in Hawaii, The Big Island. Since the move over here in June 2012 I’ve grown to really like it here. Coming from a place far up north with long dark winters I’ve always been a sun junkie and tend to take every chance I get to soak it up. It’s easy here in Hawaii. And it’s also really beautiful and there’s a friendly warm community to be a part of here.

I started this blog after falling madly in love with running. I actually first started a twitter account but quickly realized that I’d like to write more about running then what Twitter would let me so WordPress was my next step. As I’m sure you’ve already noticed I blog mainly about running but there’s times when life takes me on trips which I just can’t stay away from mentioning here.

running 2012

My running story:

At the age of 29 years and a bunch of months I finally got out there. I put on my beat up shoes and got out on a 2,4K short run, in mid May 2012. I can’t say that the first one was really enjoyable, but sure enough I went out on another run.. And another.. And another.. And I did like it. In fact, in a few weeks I started loving my time out on the streets running. Who would’ve thought that I, of all people, would become a runner?!

So here I am: a few months later, in a different part of the world, still putting my shoes on (not the old beat up ones anymore, I actually decided to spare myself and get new ones) on at least three times a week to go out running. And I am still loving every second of it!

If you’d like to get in contact with me please feel free to comment on the blog, tweet me (@evelinruns) or send me an email (address: evelinruns [at] gmail [dot] com). I look forward to hear from you!

  4. Great idea to describe your run through pictures. I also have the Garmin Forerunner. Keep up the running!

    • Thanks! It’s actually kind of fun to be able to look back on runs I’ve done in that way.. Even if it’s just photos of my everyday running, and not crazy cool races, it makes me happy and reminds me of why I’m running. I like your blog!

  6. Thanks for following our blog! We’re following back:) I love your photos! What type of camera do you use?

  7. Thanks for the follow. I lived in Hilo and glad to read you’re running the local races. There are so many awesome trails and roads to run on the island. Which side do you live?

    • I live in Kalapana/Kehena area, so Hilo side but still approximately 45 min drive to town. It’s a gorgeous island to be running on, but to be honest I still have tons to explore!
What were your favorite spots to hike/run? How long did you live in Hilo?

      • I lived there for 3 years. Volcano (inside the park) is by far the best rail running on that side. For road running there is a measured 12 mile route starting from the parking lot at the end of Haili St in downtown to the end of 4 Mile in Keaukaha and back. If you ever want to run with a group make sure to get in touch with Steve Pavao. He’s a good resource for everything running. On the Westside the Braswells (they own Big Island Running Co.) are good people. So many fabulous runners on the island.

      • my old blog has a bunch of routes that I’ve chronicled. http://choyinthehale.wordpress.com

(#FYI I do RT’s ‘anytime’ for all #Triathletes #Cyclists #UltraRunners #Marathoners #FitnessProfessionals who follow me on Twitter and have something important they want mentioned for support…)

All the very best to you & yours for 2013 & beyond Evelin. Look forward to hearing from you…
