My #favoriterun

Amanda, MissZippy, recently (ok, maybe not THAT recently, I’m a bit late on this one) wrote about her favorite run and invited us all to follow along on her run and encouraged us to join in and show our favorite run. Lately, due to our problem with water at the house I’ve been running a different route a lot. This route starts from a beach park and is pretty straight, not too hilly and.. Pretty freaking hot. But I love it! Let me take you along on my favorite run at the moment:

Drive to the park.

Wild orchids to admire along the way.

Halfway point, let's turn around and go back towards the park (with a little detour..)

Heading back. Leaving Tsunami Evacuation Area, only to enter it a few miles down the road again.

Sometimes you're lucky?

Sometimes you’re lucky? Also, somewhere close to this you can sometimes by accident see a man having an outdoor shower on his semi-private property.

Depending on how high the tide is, sometimes I pass by this marvelous spot.

.75mi left to the park.

Done! Back at the park and a shower/dip in the warm pond is awaiting!

Drive home post run, shower, swim and another shower! (Oh yeah, I had a swimsuit + towel on, promise!)

That ended up being a lot of photos from my favorite run as of now. This route could be everything from 3mi-9-10mi without problems and it’s my favorite because: 1. There’s more space for me on the road. Driver might still be freaking crazy around here, but at least I don’t have to jump into the jungle because of them. 2. There are hardly any dogs around, which I prefer as stray(?) dogs sometimes bothers me. A lot! 3. It’s peaceful and flat. The bad: 1. Roadkills. 2. It get’s HOT as there’s not much shade to be had. 3. Roadkills. Yep, this is where I’ve ran with eyes shut, puked and tried to break the world record in not breathing because of rotting pigs and dogs.

Interested in running here with me? Come on over, I’d love your company!

Q: What is your current favorite run? Do you want to link up with us and share it, either with photos or text (or both)?

  1. Your run route is GORGEOUS!!! ahhh, so jealous. The wild orchids are stunning as well, I love admiring nature when I am out running. I feel like you can just appreciate it more :) Such a neat idea.. I think I might share my route in the future as well!

  2. You have got to have the most beautiful area to run! If I am ever out that way (and it’s ok with the hubby), you’ll have to show me around. Please don’t ever take your scenery for granted. NC does not compare to Hawaii.

    • Oh of course! Husband would probably just be stoked to have someone else listen to all my running related talk and knowing I had company out running :)
Just let me know if/when you plan a trip to the Big Island!

It’s hard not to take your everyday scenery for granted.. I try not to, for sure, but sometimes it’s good with reminders like this.
Show me/us your favorite route in NC? I’m sure it’s pretty great too!

  3. Awesome! Unfortunately, a trip to Hawaii can be pricey. That’s a great idea for a post… I’ll see what I can come up with :)

  4. That looks like such a beautiful place to run! I would love to visit Hawaii again as I loved it so much when we went.

  5. Wow–that’s beautiful! I can’t imagine having that right out my front door! And I have those shoes and love them–how long have you been running in natural shoes? Thanks for playing along!

    • Thank you! It is beautiful here, but to be honest I think no matter where you live you tend to start taking the beauty of the place for granted and/or stop actually seeing it.. Posts like these are good reminders!
Yes, I’ve seen you mention SKORA on your blog. They are pretty great! I transitioned this spring so I’m still pretty new with the natural running, but have to say I’m very happy with my decision of leaving my cushy Asics behind :)

  6. How beautiful! I’ve never been to Hawaii but I keep telling my husband we need to make it out that way!

  7. Hi Evelin, planning a trip to Hawaii in August. We haven’t picked out where we’re staying yet but could I e-mail you about things to do while we’re there? If you wouldn’t mind it would be great to get some info from a local before we travel. I’d love to know some running routes too! Thanks, b
